India'S Mars Mission Successful On 1st Attempt, History Made



I. India On Tuesday Created Space History By Successfully Placing Its Low-Cost Mars Spacecraft In Orbit Around The Red Planet In Its Very First Attempt, Catapulting The Country Into An Elite Club Of Three Nations.

Ii. Watched By Prime Minister Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ISRO Scientists Successfully Ignited The Main 440 Newton Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) And Eight Small Thrusters That Fired For 24 Minutes From 7.17 AM And Slowed Down The Speed Of Mars Orbiter Mission MOM Spacecraft Mangalyaan For It To Slip Into A Smooth Orbit Around The Red Planet After Almost An Year-Long Voyage.

Iii. Indias MOM Is The Cheapest Interplanetary Mission, Costing A Tenth Of NASAs Mars Mission Maven That Entered The Martian Orbit On September 22.

Iv. It Aims To Study Mars Surface And Mineral Composition, And Scan Its Atmosphere For Methane, A Chemical Strongly Tied To Life On Earth.

V. Given The High Rate Of Failures Only 21 Of The Total Of 51 Missions Sent To Mars By Various Countries Being Successful, The Success Of MOM Has Given A Boost To Indias Global Standing In Space.

'Liar's Dice' to represent India at Oscars





i. Hindi film 'Liar's Dice', a road drama starring Geetanjali Thapa and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles, has been selected as India's official entry to the best foreign film category at the Oscar 2015 awards.
ii. 'Liar's Dice', which is Malayalam actress Geetu Mohandas' feature film directorial debut, beat 29 other films including 'Mary Kom' to represent India at the 87th edition of Oscars next year, Supran Sen, secretary general of the Film Federation of India (FFI), said. 
iiiThe other films which were in the race included 'Shahid', 'Queen', 'Mardaani', Marathi films 'Yellow' and 'Fandry' and Bengali films 'Jatishwar' and 'Apur Panchali'. 

iv. The 104-minute feature film was selected by a 12-member jury headed by eminent filmmaker T Hariharan from 30 entries.
v. 'Liar's Dice' follows a young tribal woman living in a village near the Indo-Tibetan border who embarks on a journey with her young daughter to Delhi in search of her missing husband. http://onlinepages.in

India, China sign 3 MoUs including setting up Industrial Park in Gujarat






i. India and China have signed three MoUs including setting up Industrial Park in Gujarat. All the three MoUs have been signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. 
iiThe agreements include
1. Sister city pact between Guangzhou in China and Ahmedabad
2. setting up of an industrial park in Gujarat
3. The third is between the governments of Gujarat and a Chinese province. 
iii. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held formal talks at Hotel Hayat in Ahmedabad. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the Chinese President Xi Jinping and first lady of China at the Hotel.

Ii. Also, India Needed To Learn Moral Education And Discipline From The Japanese System Of Education, Especially The Methods Used Towards These Ends.

Iii. Calling On Teachers Here To Come To India And Teach Japanese, Mr. Modi Said There Was A Dire Shortage Of Japanese Language Teachers In India.

Iv. Already, The Prime Minister Pointed Out, Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) Schools Had Started Teaching Japanese In India.
